Cold Ash Parish Council became sole corporate Trustee to the Poor’s Allotments and Recreation Ground Charities (300138) further to sealed Charity Commission Orders dated 9th July 1915 and 21st February 1922 – often referred to as “The Poor’s Trust”.
The land owned by the Charity includes:
- Hermitage Road Recreation Ground – popular with so many “as a place of exercise and recreation”. Car parking is available. There is a play area, tennis courts and an artificial cricket wicket. Cold Ash Boys & Girls Football Club has an agreement for regular training and matches and as such, the site is not available for hire by other football teams.
Please note that no commercial activity is permitted. The organisers of any activity for community benefit should apply via the Clerk to the Trust for permission. - Allotments and Wildlife Allotment Garden (WAG) – the full extent of the allotments and WAG can be seen on the maps included in the Governing Document but this cherished site includes a number of tenanted allotments, grazing fields tenanted by local livestock owners and a thriving area for all to enjoy including an orchard and picnic area.
As sole corporate trustee, Cold Ash Parish Council holds bi-monthly Trust meetings governed by the Charity’s own governing documents which can be downloaded as pdfs below. Agendas and minutes of those meetings are published on this website alongside those of the Council.
