CAPC contribution to the WBC Library Service

Cold Ash Parish Council (CAPC) has been contributing funds of varying amount towards the West Berkshire Library Service since 2018. In most recent years CAPC has contributed around £2,700 per year – that’s roughly £1 per voting adult in the parish.

WBC is changing the way that we can contribute to the Library Service and we’d like to know what you want us to do. We could purchase a specific service for the parish or continue to contribute to the service in general.

A message from the WBC Libraries Manager:

Thank you for your continued support of West Berkshire Libraries. We greatly appreciate your commitment to ensuring accessible and inclusive library services for your community, and we value the ways in which you help promote our services and keep us connected with local residents.

This year, we have revised the way we invite parish councils to support the library service. Rather than seeking a general voluntary contribution toward the overall running of West Berkshire Libraries, we are now able to offer a range of additional, tailored services that directly benefit individual parishes and make meaningful use of contributions such as your generous donation.

The Library Service Offers for Town and Parish Councils: 2025–26 sets out a number of flexible options designed to meet the needs of local communities. These offers are set out below and option 2 and 3 would potentially be suitable for Cold Ash, if there is a suitable venue within the locality.
